The Emmy Awards 2014: My Best Dressed Picks

If you are anything like me, you love a good red carpet and this years Emmy Awards did not disappoint! I've picked a selection of my fave looks below...

I love OITNB and I think Taylor Schilling is just amazing, its always nice to see her on the red carpet rather than in that orange jumpsuit! She looks stunning here in Zuhair Murad.

Michelle Dockery looks gorgeous here in Rosie Assoulin. I love how simple the colours are but the silhouette of the dress is unique and very flattering.

There is only one word that perfectly describes Christina Hendricks: bombshell. I mean just wow, look at her curves in this Marchesa dress!

I love this J.Mendel dress on Kate Mara, so floaty and girly.

I'm a huuuuge Breaking Bad fan and Anna Gunn looks nothing like her character here! The magic of Jenny Packham I guess! She looks really beautiful here.

Kiernan Shipka is fourteen. Fourteen and look at her! Definitely one to watch, she's gorgeous already and such a good actress. I love the embellishment on this Antonio Berardi dress.

When in doubt: go monochrome. Lizzy Caplan looks so chic in this Donna Karan gown.

Although I don't really like January Jones' hair here, this gown is pure drama. Red seemed to be the colour of the night and this Prabal Gurung dress is definitely a show stopper.

I don't think there is a smile in Hollywood that can rival Julia Roberts'. The embellishment on the Elie Saab dress is so pretty.

If I look as good as Sofia Vergara when I get to forty, I'll be a very happy woman. The styling of this Roberto Cavalli dress is so effortless, but she still makes a big impact.

Which look is your favourite? Leave me a comment!

My Lavish Alice Wishlist

Lately I have become obsessed with everything Lavish Alice has to offer. The clothes are so bang on trend it hurts and I'm finding it so hard to restrain myself until pay day! Therefore I decided I'd share the items I'm currently lusting after with you all, at least this means I can look through the website again!

Mustard Roll Neck Cropped Sweater, £28. I'm not usually a person who wears yellow but there is something about this sweater. Also, I love the styling here, kudos to the Lavish Alice team for this one!

Electric blue dark floral tailored co-ord, £64 if bought together. I am a huge fan of the co-ord and I'm so happy they are being carried through to AW. This dark floral print is perfect for the new season and the tailoring dresses the whole outfit up.

White sheer dipped hem long sleeve shirt, £36. The classic white shirt gets an update her with sheer panelling. Probably one of the most versatile pieces you could own.

Purple suede court heels, £14. These shoes are the perfect Autumn hue, and at a mere £14 it would be silly to refuse!
Navy Cropped Jumpsuit, £58. This jumpsuit exudes class and sophistication.
Navy Crossover Wrap Culottes, £48. This season I think I'm going to invest in trousers, instead of living in my skinny jeans. I love the unique wrap style of these.

Oxblood scuba sheer insert midi, £38. I cannot get enough of the midi skirt right now, and I love the volume of this one. Also, can we all just admire the colour?!

Which is your favourite item from my picks? Anything from Lavish Alice you are loving lately? Leave me a comment!

3 Ways To Wear It: Mules

You could say I'm a little late to the party on this one: last week I purchased some mules. I've liked them all Summer but I'd not actually found a pair I could afford that I really loved, until I spotted these in Primark. At only £12, I had to get them!
Mules are like the cooler older sister of the slider, and I know many people are not on-board with this recurring 90s trend but I just love them. They look so effortless!

1. With mom jeans and a boho blouse.
Mules are so versatile, they can be casual or dressy. Mom jeans are always a good choice when you are going for a more laid-back look and the boho style blouse is perfect for Summer.
Jeans, Topshop. Blouse, Missguided. Mules, Primark.

How pretty it the back of this top?!

2. With a statement trouser.
Pair your mules with some patterned trousers and a top-knot for work-ready chic. This particular pair of mules are a really comfy height. At around 3 inches they are comfy enough to wear all day, but still give you that little boost you get from normal heels (but they look so much more stylish!)
Top, Topshop. Trousers, H&M.

3. With a mini dress.
It's Date Night and you are bored of your usual courts/sandals/wedges. Like I said earlier, you can dress these shoes up or down! They look so cute with a mini dress and are a great alternative to your usual heels.
Dress, Boohoo. Bag, Primark.

Do you have a pair of mules? How did you style them? I'd love to see, leave me a comment!

#OOTD: 20th August, Feeling Autumnal

As you will have probably noticed, the weather has taken a somewhat chilly and Autumnal turn.
I am so glad I got this coat from Primark last week, perfect for this transitional period: it's not too thick but still cosy in the wind. I'm still a little bit obsessed with pastels atm, but I'm sure by the time September rolls around I'll be cuddling up in berry and navy hues.

I'm still holding on to what is left of Summer, that is why I paired my coat with this little dress and ankle boots. The dress was such a bargain back in May at £7.99 from H&M!

Went on a little Primark spree last week and got these cut out boots. I'm obsessed with black ankle boots! I might branch out a bit this year and get some burgundy ones, I'm currently loving the ones River Island have in stock.

I kept my make-up pretty simple today (I was going out for lunch with my grandparents), but I did curl my hair. My hair is usually naturally wavy but today it looked a little flat so I perked it up with my curling wand.

Have you purchased a coat yet? Leave me a comment and let me know!

#OOTD: 16th August, Family Wedding

On Saturday, my family ventured to Bakewell for the wedding of my step-dad's niece. It was a beautiful event, incredibly grand and very English! I thought I'd share a few photograph's of the actual event as well as my outfit.

I have to thank my friend Grace for being my +1 at the wedding and for taking this photo. Some of you may recognise this dress from this Top 5 post, it's from Boohoo and was an absolute bargain at £12! The shoes are kitten heel slingbacks and are from Primark, they are very versatile and I can see myself wearing them over and over. If you read my blog regularly, you'll have seen this bag before, it's originally from Zara, but I got it on eBay for £6.

I kept my hair simple with a half up/half down style but I did have my make-up done by a friend of mine who is training to be a make-up artist at college. I love it, there is no way it would have looked this good if I'd done it myself!

If anyone is wondering, Grace's dress here is from Dorothy Perkins.

Don't my family look cute? My step-dad upped his style game in this Ted Baker suit, I think he should wear it all the time!

The happy couple... The bride's dress was handmade by a close family friend, it was so delicate and intricate. It's not really clear on this picture, but there was hundreds of tiny pearls and sequins sewn all over the lace.

Fabulous hats are always a feature at weddings!

The reception was held at Hassop Hall, near Bakewell. It was such a gorgeous venue.

How pretty is this ceiling! This was only the women's bathroom too...

My Auntie now has twelve of these huge candlesticks, I have no idea what she's going to do with them all!

The meal was amazing, five courses plus extras! And the wine was constantly flowing.

Hassop Hall was full of these chandeliers, so pretty.

Have you been to a wedding this Summer? I'd love to see what you wore, leave me a comment!

Top 5: Transitional Footwear

It's that time of year already: it's still warm but it's raining more and more. Summer sandals are very impractical in a downpour, soggy feet are not chic! I've put together my top five transitional shoes that will keep your feet relatively dry but they are still Summer appropriate.

1. Primark nude slip-ons, £7. I'm obsessed with neutrals lately and I love these, they will literally go with almost anything!

 2. Primark Mules, £12. Socks with sandals has become a little micro-trend this Summer, and mules with socks were seen at Topshop Unique for AW14 too. Give it a try, make a statement! But make sure your socks are cute!
3. Verse Fringed Loafer, £70, Office. Update the classic loafer by investing in a metallic pair like these.
4. Nike Roshe Run, £74, Office. If you are into the sports luxe trend, these are the perfect transitional shoes for you. Love the Liberty London print!
5. Araika Cut Out Ankle Boots, £34.99, Missguided. I love ankle boots, got to be my favourite shoe and this grey pair are gorg. The cut-outs mean they are still appropriate for Summer weather.

Style Crush: Miranda Kerr

Miranda Kerr is over-the-top beautiful, but in a quieter way than her fellow VS Angels. As well as being a model and mother, Kerr is a business woman with her own skincare range and two best selling books. She is a woman to be both jealous of and marvelled at. She also has impeccable personal style.
This woman can make anything look chic and effortless. Scroll down for a look at my favourite looks and for some excellent style inspo!

So simple and yet so stunning. I love the pop of colour the shoes add.

Style tip: when wearing a statement [Sonia Rykiel] statement skirt, keep everything else simple.
Kerr showing us how to dress up denim... Add a Miu Miu leopard print heel.
Practically dripping in Chanel. This is the dream.
Who knew tie-dye could look so polished? Of course it does if it's Proenza Schouler and it's accessorised with a Givenchy bag.
When in doubt, wear all black.
Hermes boots and a Balenciaga dress make a gorgeous pairing here. Always loving the thigh-high.
The secret to Kerr's style is the pairing of classic shapes with timeless accessories. Celine never goes out of style.
I really wish I looked like this in a chunky knit cardigan...
Sooo many trends nailed in just one look here. Bonus style points!

This is just a handful of my favourite looks from the style-goddess that is Miranda Kerr, which is your favourite? Leave me a comment!
